Danny Dyer as John Smith

Taxi driver John Smith is a well-meaning sort of guy. Well he’s ‘a bit of a lad’ really but that’s what makes him so loveable. Actually he’s got a lot going for him; hard-working, home-loving , easy-going and a devoted husband, just the sort of bloke you can rely on to be in the right place at the right time!

About Danny

In his first major comedy screen role, Run For Your Wife gives Danny the opportunity of being seen as he never has before. Best known for his tough guy image, his credits include; Human Traffic, Mean Machine, The Football Factory and Dean Man Running, while on TV he has appeared in such series as Prime Suspect 3, Skins and Plebs. He also played alongside Ray Winstone and Vicki Michelle as their scheming son, Martin, in the hard-hitting TV film All in the Game.

Everyone needs a best friend, someone to share with, and someone who’s loyal, trustworthy and dependable. Say hi to John’s best mate Gary. He’s all of those things and more, confident and full of chat, only problem is, he isn’t very quick on the uptake so not always up to speed with the turn of events! Pretty crucial given the situation!

About Neil

Neil is no stranger to comedy having won the hearts of the nation as Tony in the ever-popular series Men Behaving Badly. Other sitcom success includes Carrie and Barry and Me and Mrs Jones. His diverse career has also seen him famed as the voice of children’s favourite Bob the Builder and star as Fagin in the stage musical Oliver.

D.S Porterhouse is not quite what you’d expect in a detective. He has a laid back approach to his work, what you might call old school! A proper gentleman, he’s already been there, done it and got the T Shirt. He’d much rather look for a good side in a person!

About Nicholas

Nicholas enjoys an illustrious career that sees him perform regularly on television, stage and in the theatre. Recent TV work includes; Doc Martin, Wild at Heart and Midsomer Murders while in the theatre he has received much critical acclaim for his work with The Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company and at The Chichester Festival.

He’s young, he’s ambitious and nothing gets past DS Troughton. Definitely last in the queue when sense of humours were being dealt out, his sights are firmly set on promotion. Forget D.I, next stop Chief Super!

About Ben

Ben describes his experience of working on Run For Your Wife as ‘Lots of fun’, even taking into account spending much of his time being sprayed in red dye! He also bears reference to the daunting aspect of appearing simultaneously on set with five previous DS Troughtons in the  hospital scene. Run For Your Wife apart, Ben is a familiar face on television in such programmes as Eastenders, Judge John Deed, Casualty and Hatfields and McCoys. Other film credits include; Sherlock Holmes, Children of the Lake and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

About Derek

One of our best-loved comedy performers, Derek probably holds the record for performances as Stanley Gardner (now renamed Gary Gardner), when it comes to stage performances of Run For Your Wife. He has appeared in the role at The Aldwych Theatre on separate runs, The Duchess Theatre and The Criterion, all in London’s West End, on UK tour and in Canada. Many of his performances were opposite Ray Cooney as John Smith where rumour has it, the pair put their own stamp on the curtain calls!

Award-winning Derek first made a name for himself for his work in children’s TV with his career going on to encompass everything from Shakespeare to musicals including Twelfth Night, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Nude With Violin.

She’s cool, she’s calm, she’s collected. In fact nothing seems to phase WPC Matthews! Now you may think she is inclined to be a bit on the cynical side but we prefer to think of it as all being down to work experience!

About Louise

This is Louise’s first appearance in a Ray Cooney production although she is certainly no stranger to his stage work. With so many family links in the industry, Louise was destined to follow. Among her credits to date are Miranda in The Tempest, Primrose in The Rakes Return and Martine Mullins in the new Rom Com, The Callback Queen.
